At Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church, we believe children come to us already knowing God. The goal of Children’s Ministries is to provide children with the necessary tools to continue building their relationship with God. We do this by providing a safe, nurturing environment; teaching them the language of God through scripture; planning fellowship activities to foster church relationships; and giving them opportunities to serve others at church and in the community.
Parents and church members play a vital role in the lives of our children. Parents support the children’s programs by volunteering to teach Sunday school, organizing a fellowship activity, or providing childcare in one of our nurseries.
We offer childcare on Sunday mornings from 8:45 – 12:15 for 6-week olds to 4-year olds. Paid workers and church volunteers staff our childcare.
Sunday school is offered for children ages 2 years through 5th grade at 10:00 am. Our curriculum is We Believe by PC(USA).
Children ages 4 years – 2nd grade participate in Children’s Church during the 11:00 worship service. Children leave the sanctuary with a leader following the Children’s Time with the Pastor. During children’s church, the children participate in Godly Play worship. On communion Sundays, children leave the service for the sermon and reenter it afterwards to participate in communion with their families.
Kids Club is a monthly gathering of 3-5th graders led by the director of children’s ministries and the youth director.
Faithgirlz is a group of girls 3rd grade through middle school who meet monthly for bible study and fellowship. Faithgirlz currently meets the 3rd Sunday of the month at 6:15. The girls also meet at other times planned activities.
Vacation Bible School
School-aged children participate in a week-long day program at Camp New Hope each summer. A week-long, half-day preschool program is held at the church each year.
Children have opportunities to participate in many fellowship activities throughout the year from holiday parties to end-of-school-year celebrations. Other annual events include Children’s Sabbath, Children’s Christmas Eve service and Easter Egg Hunt.
We believe in the importance of nurturing the whole family by providing opportunities for them to grow in their faith together. Families participate together in communion class and making advent decorations.
